In a hidden place, American Airlines recently added further instructions on how to fill out their application. Here it is:

All Flying Experience: List every job or flying experience, even if it goes beyond 10 years. Include roles, flight hours, and types of aircraft flown.

Flight Training: Begin your employment history section with where and when you conducted your initial flight training and provide an uninterrupted employment history after that.

Periods of Unemployment: Clearly state any periods of unemployment.

Leadership Progression: Show progression from First Officer to Captain upgrade, even if at the same company. If military, break out various roles/positions. Do not combine all time together unless you held multiple roles at one time.
