Format: In Person (Denver, CO)
Sections: Logbook Review, HR/Pilot Interview
Dress: Suit and tie
Have ready: Logbook, Passport, Driver’s License, Pilot Certificate, Medical, FCC License and the paperwork they sent when confirming the interview
The interview is relaxed and conversational. Dress professionally, arrive early, and be friendly with everyone you meet. Don’t use your phone inside the building. Have all documents organized. The interview is typically 30–45 minutes with one HR rep and one pilot. Technical questions are light; the focus is judgment, CRM, and decision-making.
Technical
You may may not get get a technical question:
At what altitude do the passenger oxygen masks deploy?
What is the definition of minimum fuel?
Review a METAR with snow and low visibility.
TMAAT
Expect follow-ups and be prepared to explain why you made your decisions.
Tell me about a time you made a mistake and had to answer to management.
Tell me about a time you disagreed with a captain or supervisor.
Tell me about a time you had to make an unpopular decision.
“What Would You Do”
Upon your answer they will typically ask clarifying questions.
All lavatories are inoperative on a three-hour flight — what do you do?
A passenger gets sick inflight — how do you manage it?
Leadership
What is your leadership style?
What two values are most important to you and why?
What do you bring to the flight deck today that will carry over
